In addition, the facility houses party suites and a top level party and banquet room for nearly 300 guests.
The 15-acre parking lot can host concerts and various trade shows and accomodates parking for more than 2,500 cars. There are 18 kennels with space for 1,080 greyhounds.
Valley Greyhound Park was originally owned by the Ladbroke Corporation which began racing in 1990. In 2000, Sam Houston Race Park, a thoroughbred racetrack in Houston bought and renamed the venue as Valley Race Park. Thousands turned out on opening night, March 17, 2000 even though it was only for simulcasting.
Under the ownership of Sam Houston Race Park, Valley Race Park has strived to become the best entertainment value in the region. The park provides the community with several hundred jobs and is a significant contributor to the tax base of the city of Harlingen.
