The Rio Grande Valley’s address for Winning Fun

Situated on nearly 80 acres, Valley Race Park in Harlingen, Texas is the home to greyhound racing and year round simulcasting of both horse and dog racing. The park features a 91,000 square foot building with a terraced seating and table area, a main floor for simulcasting, clubhouse restaurant and bar and party rooms. In addition, the facility houses party suites and a top level party and banquet room for nearly 300 guests.

The 15-acre parking lot can host concerts and various trade shows and accomodates parking for more than 2,500 cars. There are 18 kennels with space for 1,080 greyhounds.

Valley Greyhound Park was originally owned by the Ladbroke Corporation which began racing in 1990. In 2000, Sam Houston Race Park, a thoroughbred racetrack in Houston bought and renamed the venue as Valley Race Park. Thousands turned out on opening night, March 17, 2000 even though it was only for simulcasting.

Under the ownership of Sam Houston Race Park, Valley Race Park has strived to become the best entertainment value in the region. The park provides the community with several hundred jobs and is a significant contributor to the tax base of the city of Harlingen.
