You can also watch and wager on almost all the Road to the Kentucky Derby races which lead into America's most famous horse race.
Specifically, the Road to the Kentucky Derby is series of 46 races from September 14, 2019 to April 11, 2020 .
To earn a spot in the starting gate for the Kentucky Derby, horses must travel along the Road to the Kentucky Derby, a series of 46 designated races at tracks across the country and around the world. Points are awarded to the top four finishers in each race. The 20 horses with the most points will earn a spot in the starting gate on the first Saturday in May.
Included in these 46 races are also a Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby” to provide a potential entry in the Kentucky Derby for a horse based in Japan and the "European Road to the Kentucky Derby" extending an invite to European horsemen as well.
The following races offer the most qualifying points and are the most significant races the Road to the Kentucky Derby :
- Louisiana Derby from the Fair Grounds on Saturday, March 21st
- UAE Derby from Meydan Racecourse on Saturday, March 21st
- Florida Derby from Gulfstream Park on Saturday, March 28th
- Wood Memorial for Aqueduct on Saturday, April 4th
- Blue Grass Stakes from Keeneland on Saturday, April 4th
- Santa Anita Derby from Santa Anita on Saturday, April 4th
- Arkansas Derby from Oaklawn Park on Saturday, April 4th
